I've gathered a few bits of history about Cumulus:

Cumulus has been owned by the Ellis family for the majority of her life.  They were her second owners.  She was bought from Hayling Island SC in 1960, redecked to MkIII design in 1980 and sailed by the Ellises until around 1991.

Cumulus started winning National Championships trophies in 1982 in Jonny Ellis's hands taking the Gore and Silver Firefly trophies.  The Silver Firefly was won again in 1984, the year that Cumulus and Jonny won the championships, and is the only nationals trophy to have both my boats on it (I won it in Falken with Rosie Davey in 2001).  The last time Cumulus was sailed in anger was by David at the Pevensey Bay championships in 1991 where they came 3rd.  By this point Cumulus was getting a bit tired and patched, the transom almost falling off at the nationals.  The family had purchased a boat that would turn into another Firefly legend, F1954 - 'Pogie'.  Pogie had already won the nationals in 1990 in Jonny's hands, followed by wins in '94 and '96 with David at the helm.  She was sold on to Sean Barber and then Jono Pank, who won the champs again in 2001.  All this time Cumulus was resting at Rickmansworth SC.  Interestingly both Ellis brothers believe that Cumulus is ultimately faster than Pogie.  No pressure then!
